BOOST MOBILE PRO OF SURF PRESENTED BY HURLEY COMPETITION DATES ANNOUNCED

07.14.08

IRVINE and COSTA MESA, Calif. – The Boost Mobile Pro of Surf presented by Hurley, the seventh of eleven stops on the ASP World Tour and the only tour event held on the US Mainland, will take place at Lower Trestles in San Clemente, California, from September 7-13, 2008. Emphasizing its commitment to surfing, Boost Mobile has signed on as the ASP’s exclusive wireless partner and will host the competition for the seventh consecutive year. Hurley will make its return as presenting sponsor of the event, where the top 48 professional surfers in the world set their sights on the 2008 ASP World Title.

“Over the past six years we have continued, alongside Hurley, to raise the bar in surfing events and this year promises no less,” said Jeff Belizaire, Event Marketing Manager, Boost Mobile. “The Boost Mobile Pro brings athletes from all over the world together to compete at one of the U.S.’s most renowned surf locations – in fact, one of the places where surf culture was born, and we expect a thrilling turnout, both from our surfers and their fans.”

Surf fans can catch a preview of the event July 24 and 25 at the Boost Mobile Pro of Surf trials, being held at the US Open of Surf in Huntington Beach.

“We are so excited to be a part of such an amazing global event and look forward to seeing the standard of surfing fly up another notch this year,” said Pat O’Connell, surf marketing manager, Hurley. “The opportunity for these wildcards to surf against the best surfers in the world is such an honor, especially when you look at the records set at last year’s event. From Kelly [Slater] passing Tom Curran for the most WCT wins, to the attention the wildcards received, this event is one of the best platforms for athletes and spectators alike to experience the sport.”

The Boost Mobile Pro can be seen live via webcast at www.boostmobilepro.com. Competition hours will run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the five days selected for competition. The public may surf at Lower Trestles before and after the event. The surrounding surf breaks in the Trestles area remain open to public surfing throughout the event.
