IRVINE and COSTA MESA, Calif. – Boost Mobile, a division of Sprint Corporation (NYSE: S), today announced the company will again suspend traveling charges for Boost customers in Texas to help ease the transition for those displaced by Hurricane Ike. The traveling charge respite, originally spurred by the recent evacuations for Hurricane Gustav, will become a turn-key policy at Boost Mobile for all regional disaster relief efforts going forward.
Boost Mobile will suspend the traveling fee of 15 cents per minute for all calls made outside their normal home calling area (HCA) for customers in the Houston and South Texas HCAs. The Houston HCA covers the greater Houston, San Antonio, Austin and Waco metropolitan region. The South Texas HCA includes the greater McAllen, Corpus Christi and Laredo metropolitan region.
“As these evacuations become commonplace, Boost Mobile has decided that suspending traveling charges for any HCA impacted by mandatory evacuations will become our standard policy,” said Boost Mobile President Matt Carter. “Our hope is that the evacuations are strictly a precaution and that everyone remains safe.”
