Boost Mobile location on 3864 E. Cesar Chavez Ave, where I was helped right away, with no issues, no pushback, and no unnecessary fees. Nothing but a warm smile and pleasant attitude.
1st, I visited a Boost Mobile store on 5119 Whittier Blvd, ELA on the morning of April 16, 2026 to purchase a $10 SIM card. I explained to the associate that a customer service representative (call center) had instructed me to get the SIM due to a network optimization issue (cell tower-related), and that activation would be handled over the phone at no cost.
Despite explaining this twice, the associate insisted I would have to pay an additional $30 activation fee, stating it was “store policy.” Because this directly contradicted what I was told by customer service, I chose not to proceed with the purchase and left.
I then drove to another Boost Mobile location on 3864 E. Cesar Chavez Ave, where I was helped right away, with no issues, no pushback, and no unnecessary fees.
After returning home, I contacted customer service again and was informed that charging a $30 activation fee in this situation—specifically for a network optimization request—is against franchise policy.
This experience was frustrating and misleading. Customers should not be given incorrect information or pressured into unnecessary charges.
