What are the Mobile Hotspot add-on offers?

Daily Mobile Hotspot: For just $3/day, you get 500MB of combined 3G/4G data access to connect up to 8 Wi-Fi-enabled devices to your smartphone for wireless connect. This service is a one-time add-on purchase, so it does not automatically renew/recur each day - once expired, you can repurchase as-needed.

Monthly Mobile Hotspot Offers: Choose between 1GB | $5/month or 2GB | $10/month and get the data you need to stay connected on the go. Data allotment is a combination of 3G/4G data access and allows you to connect up to 8 Wi-Fi-enabled devices to your smartphone for wireless connect. Monthly Mobile Hotspot offers can either be purchased as a one-time add-on (does not automatically renew/recur each month - once expired, you can repurchase as-needed), OR, to ensure continued service, you can elect to have your Monthly Mobile Hotspot service renew automatically monthly, so long as you have sufficient funds in your account.

How many Wi-Fi-enabled devices can I connect to my hotspot-capable smartphone?

The number of Wi-Fi enabled devices that can be connected to your hotspot-capable smartphone varies by device. 3G hotspot capable smartphones can connect up to 5 Wi-Fi enabled devices. Dual-mode 3G/4G hotspot capable smartphones can connect up to 8 Wi-Fi enabled devices.

Is Mobile Hotspot available for all plans?

Mobile Hotspot is included in our $35/$50 Boost Mobile Unlimited plans, on hotspot capable phones. This means you can turn your phone into a hotspot and allow others to use your data services when in a coverage area. On the $35/mo. plan hotspot usage will draw from the high-speed data allotments of that plan so if you want more high-speed data before your next monthly plan starts, you can purchase more high-speed data for $5/mo. 1GB or $10/mo. 2GB. Learn more. Up to 8GB of mobile hotspot data is included in the $50/mo. plan.

As a note, the 8GB $50/mo. plan includes 8GB of Mobile Hotspot, VPN and P2P access per month. You can turn on the hotspot functionality on your device by accessing your phone Settings.

How do I pay for the Mobile Hotspot?

If you are on one of our older plans and choose to pay for Mobile Hotspot as an additional option you can go online in My Account or by visiting your local Boost Mobile retailer. Payment for the Daily Mobile Hotspot and non-recurring Monthly Mobile Hotspot add-on services is independent of your monthly plan payment. Your account will need to be current and active and must have enough money to cover the Mobile Hotspot charge at time of purchase. For continued Monthly Mobile Hotspot service, you can elect to have your service tied to your monthly plan payment and set to renew monthly, so long as you have sufficient funds in your account.

What's the difference between the monthly hotspot options listed in My Account?

Monthly Mobile Hotspot provides you with two payment options for your convenience. To ensure continued service, you can elect to have your Monthly Mobile Hotspot service renew automatically monthly, so long as you have sufficient funds in your account. If you do not need ongoing hotspot functionality, select the option that does not automatically renew and you can add hotspot functionality whenever you need it.

How long does the Daily Mobile Hotspot last?

On the day of purchase, you will have access to 500MB until 11:59 PM the next day or until the data is depleted, whichever occurs first.

For example, if Daily Mobile Hotspot is purchased at 9:00 AM on Monday, the 500 MB data allotment is valid through 11:59 PM on Tuesday; UNLESS, you've used the entire 500MB data allotment before the expiration time.

How long do the Monthly Mobile Hotspots last?

For the non-recurring Monthly Mobile Hotspot add-ons:

  • The $5/1GB monthly Mobile Hotspot plan will provide you with access to 1GB of hotspot data until 11:59 PM 30 days from the date of purchase; UNLESS, you use the entire 1GB data allotment before the expiration time.
  • The $10/2GB monthly Mobile Hotspot plan will provide you with access to 2GB of hotspot data until 11:59 PM 30 days from the date of purchase; UNLESS, you use the entire 2GB data allotment before the expiration time.

If you elect to have your Monthly Mobile Hotspot service automatically renew monthly:

  • The $5/1GB monthly Mobile Hotspot plan will provide you with access to 1GB of hotspot data until 11:59 PM on the day your monthly plan payment is due; UNLESS, you use the entire 1GB data allotment before the expiration time.
  • The $10/2GB monthly Mobile Hotspot plan will provide you with access to 2GB of hotspot data until 11:59 PM on the day your monthly plan payment is due; UNLESS, you use the entire 2GB data allotment before the expiration time.

What happens if all of the Mobile Hotspot data allotment is used up before it expires?

If the Mobile Hotspot data allotment is used for the $35/mo. plan, you will need to purchase a monthly Data Pack for continued hotspot use. The hotspot usage will draw from the high-speed data allotments of that Data Pack. You can purchase more high-speed data for $5/mo. 1GB or $10/mo. 2GB.Learn more.

If more than one device is connected, how is data use measured?

Your daily or monthly Mobile Hotspot data allotment is the total combined allotment available for each data session. If more than one Wi-Fi device is connected, the data will be shared between each of these devices.

Is the amount of data that I get on Mobile Hotspot separate from the data on my Monthly Plan?

Yes, the Mobile Hotspot's data allotment is measured separately from your monthly service.

Can I see how much of the Mobile Hotspot data allotment I've used?

No, your hotspot usage will be included in your overall data which you can find by logging into My Account. Look at the high speed data dial.

How do I turn on the Hotspot functionality for my phone?

You can turn on the functionality by accessing your phone Settings. You can also check your phone's User Guide for specific details and more information.
