Xfinity Prepaid FAQ’s


What is Xfinity Prepaid Home Internet?

Xfinity Prepaid Home Internet is a service provided by Comcast that enables you to access the internet at home via Wi-Fi through the Xfinity Wireless Gateway connected to your Comcast-ready home cable. You can connect all your devices (computers, phones, tablets) to the internet via Wi-Fi.


What type of Internet speed will I get?

Xfinity Prepaid Internet service offers up to 20 Mbps of download speed and up to 1 Mbps of upload speed. Actual speeds may vary and are not guaranteed.


How much does it cost?

The Starter Kit includes a Wireless Gateway, all necessary cables and an activation code for up to 30 days of included Xfinity Prepaid Home Internet service. Xfinity Prepaid Home Internet is $45 for the first 30 days, plus a one-time start-up and equipment fee of $35, making your total initial cost $80. After that, additional service refills cost $15 for 7 days or $40 (discounted price for Boost customers only, instead of $45) for 30 days of service.


Is Xfinity Prepaid Home Internet available for all Boost Mobile® customers?

To benefit from the Xfinity Prepaid Home Internet service, you need to live in a Comcast-ready home and be in an area where the Xfinity service is offered. Xfinity Prepaid Home Internet is available to all Boost Mobile® customers with any eligible device and any price plan.


Are there any requirements to get the service?

You must be at least 18 years of age, live in a Comcast-ready home, and be in an area where this service is offered. Also, your address cannot have an active Comcast or Xfinity account. Check here to see if Xfinity Prepaid Service is currently available at your address.


What if I'm already a Comcast customer?

Xfinity Prepaid Service cannot be used at an address that has active service with Comcast.


Do I own the equipment?

Yes. You own the Xfinity Wireless Gateway, cords and cables when you purchase the Xfinity Prepaid Home Internet Starter Kit.


How do I refill my service?

You can easily refill your service with a credit or debit card online at or by purchasing a refill at any Xfinity participating Boost Mobile® store. Find the closest Xfinity Boost Mobile® store here.


Can I auto-refill my service?


Do I have to sign a long-term contract?

There are no long-term contracts with Xfinity Prepaid Home Internet Service. And a credit check or Social Security number is not required. Xfinity Prepaid Home Internet Service is subject to the Terms and Conditions included in your Xfinity Starter Kit.


Do I need to have a credit card?

You can purchase your Xfinity Prepaid Internet Starter Kit online using credit, debit and prepaid cards. You can also purchase an Xfinity Starter Kit and refills at a participating Boost Mobile® store using any accepted payment method including cash.


How do I activate my account?

If you purchased your Xfinity Prepaid Starter Kit in a Boost Mobile® store, please wait 48 hours after purchasing before attempting to activate your service at

Note: The service included with your Xfinity Prepaid Starter Kit expires 30 days from the time it is activated.


Can I use my existing Wireless Gateway?

No, Xfinity Prepaid Home Internet service can only be accessed through the Xfinity Wireless Gateway included in your Xfinity Prepaid Starter Kit. The Xfinity Wireless Gateway may still be used if you subscribe to Xfinity non-Prepaid Internet service by contacting Comcast.


Do I need a computer to setup and activate the Xfinity Prepaid Home Internet service?

You will need to provide a Wi-Fi enabled device such as a computer, smart phone or tablet. The Internet Prepaid Starter Kit includes a Wireless Gateway (modem and router in one), coax cable, Ethernet cable and power cord. To establish a direct connection, rather than using Wi-Fi, use the Ethernet cable to get a wired connection.


How do I connect and power up?

First, connect the coax cable from your cable wall outlet to the Cable In/RF In connection on the back of your Wireless Gateway (modem and router in one). Make sure the connections are secure, but to avoid damaging the connectors, do not over-tighten.

Then, connect the power cord into the back of your Wireless Gateway and plug the other end into the electrical outlet. Wait until the Online light is solid for at least 1 minute on the Wireless Gateway. Use the Network Name and Password printed on the bottom (or side) of your Wireless Gateway to connect to your wireless network. Finally, activate your account at to enjoy your Xfinity Prepaid Home Internet service.


What if I can't access the Internet?

Please refer to the troubleshooting tips in your Starter Kit's Getting Started Guide. If you still can't connect to the Internet, please call the dedicated Customer Care team for Xfinity Prepaid Internet service at 855-75-PREPAID.


What is the Limited Warranty?

If the equipment (“Equipment”) included with the Starter Kit (“Kit”) fails due to a defect in materials or workmanship, or normal wear and tear (“Operational Failure”), Comcast will replace the Equipment with other Equipment (“Replacement Equipment”). To receive Replacement Equipment you must notify Comcast within thirty (30) days of the date of purchase by calling 855-757-7372 and following the return procedures provided when you call. THERE IS NO ASSURANCE, REPRESENTATION, OR GUARANTEE THAT ANY REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT WILL BE IDENTICAL. The Replacement Equipment will be refurbished Equipment. You hereby assign to Comcast all rights and benefits of any manufacturer’s warranty or other ancillary coverage relating to any Equipment that Comcast replaces.


How do I return the Xfinity Prepaid Starter Kit for a refund?

If you purchased your Xfinity Prepaid Starter Kit online or by phone, it may be returned within 15 days of purchase for a refund if the Starter Kit is unopened. If opened, Xfinity Prepaid Internet service must not be available at your residence, as determined by Comcast. All opened kits must be returned, content complete, in good working order. If your equipment is defective, please see the Limited Warranty inside the Starter Kit for more information.

All returns must be requested by calling 855-75-PREPAID.

Refunds are limited to a refund of the Xfinity Starter Kit price (including taxes) actually paid. Shipping charges will not be refunded. All returns must be submitted using the UPS return shipping label included with the Starter Kit. Refunds will be provided only by a credit to the original credit/debit card used for purchase.

If you purchased your Xfinity Prepaid Starter Kit in a Boost Mobile® store, it is subject to the return and/or refund policy of that store.

How do I watch Xfinity Prepaid Instant TV?

You can stream Xfinity Prepaid Instant TV by downloading the Xfinity Stream app on Google Play or the iTunes app store. The app allows you to watch Xfinity Prepaid Instant TV on any device, including mobile, desktop, and tablets.


How can I watch Xfinity Prepaid Instant TV on my television screen?

Although Xfinity Prepaid Instant TV was designed to watch on mobile devices and computers, you can watch it on a television screen using a Roku® device that works with the Xfinity Stream app, such as the Roku Express or a Roku Streaming Stick.

How much does Xfinity Prepaid Instant TV cost?

The Xfinity Prepaid Instant TV package starts at $20 (plus taxes and fees) for up to 30 days and gives you the ability to add on extra channels at an additional cost. The price varies based on which options you choose to add to your service.


Can I add on additional channels?

Yes, you need to start with the Xfinity Prepaid Instant TV pack in order to add on other packs and premium channels. You can pick and choose the extra packs you would like for an additional fee.
